What every team needs to address in the draft AFC WEST addition
In this article, we discuss where each team needs to fill a weakness in their team or for some teams potentially just gain more depth.
The Broncos had their moments last season where they were in close games and just couldn’t see them out. They have managed to secure some decent players in free agency including Graham Glasgow to help with a porous offensive line. Melvin Gordon supplies a good one-two punch with Phillip Lindsay. They have a very good defensive line with the addition of Jurell Casey to an already strong group and high-level defensive back group with the addition of A.J. Bouye going into this season.
OT/WR – If one of the top offensive tackles is still there when they pick at #15 they should probably go with that. However, if the top tackles are all gone they should take one of the top 5 wide receivers to pair with Courtland Sutton and Noah Fant at TE.
Other Needs – LB, QB, Safety
Kansas City Chiefs
The Chiefs are coming off a Superbowl win (their first in 50 years) so you would think they have very little weaknesses on their team. Keeping both Chris Jones and Demarcus Robinson was a wise move. Adding to their offensive line with Mike Remmers was a wise idea as it was solid enough but lacked any depth.
CB – They have one decent corner on their squad however they could do with taking a stud corner. I’m not sure there are many, however Trevon Diggs or Kristian Fulton will likely be available, and they are top prospects.
Other Needs – LB, RB, OL
Los Angeles Chargers
The Chargers are going through a weird phase of transition. A year ago, they looked like the real deal, but this year regressed in their division. Philip Rivers is gone and that leaves a big question. Do we believe Tom Telesco and Anthony Lynn want to go forward with Tyrod Taylor? The need to answer that question in the draft and they need Oline help (Acquiring Bulaga will help this). They are pretty set on defence across the board.
QB – I don’t think Tyrod Taylor is the answer and they could get a younger more athletic prospect in Justin Herbert. He has a strong arm and can take off and run where required, with some help reading the game he could be a future QB for the Charger’s franchise.
Other Needs – OT, WR, FS
Las Vegas Raiders
The raiders looked very strong early season last year even after losing their first-round draft pick for the season. He will be back this year and was a talent coming out of college. Josh Jacobs was a rookie sensation until he got injured, Darren Waller was excellent at TE and Hunter Renfrow really started to appear down the stretch. They have a monstrous offensive line as it is but could use some depth. They were a few close games from playoffs and with some good draft picks this year they could push for that this year and challenge the Chiefs.
DL/WR – They really need some good Defensive Tackles or ends but by #12 & #19 Blacklock might be the best left and that high he is a reach. They need a star at wide receiver to really take that group to the next level as nobody is a stand out. Mike Mayock may well stick to his guns and take the players from the national championship game however I expect them to take Jerry Jeudy at #12.
Other Needs – CB, OL, QB
